Outstanding CSI Clinician-Scientists Win NMRC Awards

At the National Medical Research Council (NMRC) Awards 2017, CSI Principal Investigator Dr David Tan and Principal Associate Dr Anand Jeyasekharan were awarded the Clinician Scientist Award and Transition Award respectively. The NMRC Awards aim to recognise clinician scientists and researchers for their outstanding achievements and contributions, and to support them in developing breakthrough research that will result in positive outcomes for patients.

Dr David Tan, who is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at the Department of Haematology-Oncology at National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS), carries out research that focuses on the development of biomarkers and novel therapeutic agents in gynaecological cancers.

Dr Anand Jeyasekharan concurrently manages his clinical duties as a Senior Resident at the Department of Haematology Oncology at NCIS, while leading a group of researchers at CSI to develop biomarkers to guide clinical trials and practice in Oncology. Additionally, Dr Jeyasekharan is also the head of the Microscopy Core Facility at CSI.

CSI sincerely congratulates Dr Tan and Dr Jeyasekharan for their achievements as excellent clinician-scientists. Balancing the demands of the clinic and laboratory is no easy feat and CSI is proud of our research faculty members who successfully work to bridge the gap between the bench and bedside.
