Congratulations to A/Prof. Edward Kai-Hua Chow and Dr. Bee Hui Liu, who have recently won awards at the Asian Fund for Cancer Research’s (AFCR) 2021 BRACE Award Venture Competition, a first-of-its-kind program for early-stage oncology technology companies focused on Asian-prevalent cancers. The competition serves as a springboard for promising start-ups to translate their scientific discoveries into effective and affordable cancer technologies. Co-founded by Dr. Liu, Believer Inc clinched 2nd place at the competition. The early-stage company is currently developing a peptide therapeutic technology targeting liver cancer. Another Singapore-based start-up, KYAN Therapeutics, which A/Prof. Chow co-founded, was recognized with the Best Public Communicator Award. KYAN develops powerful solutions with its optimised therapeutics in a bid to revolutionize treatment for patients.
