Congratulations to the inaugural graduating class of the CSI Graduate Program in Cancer Biology!
Drs. Koh Cai Ping, Ho Caifeng Jolene, Tay Lavina Sierra, Phyllis Chong, Qiao Yiting, Sun Wendi and Chung Vin Yee were conferred the Doctorate Degree in Philosophy (Medicine) during the NUS Commencement Ceremony on 12 July 2015, which marked the beginning of their careers as scientists in cancer research.
This group of all-female graduate students is part of the pioneer batch of students enrolled in the CSI PhD Graduate Program in Cancer Biology in August 2010, and achieved outstanding results in their respective research areas, under the academic guidance of our principal investigators at CSI. Besides having successfully defended their PhD theses, they also have published their research findings during their PhD career in various scientific journals.
To celebrate the achievements of our pioneer graduating class, CSI organized a Graduation Lunch on 16 July 2015. Besides the students and their supervisors, the celebratory lunch was also attended by Director of CSI Prof. Daniel Tenen, members of the CSI Graduate Program Academic Committee, and several senior research scientists who had worked closely with our graduates during the course of their PhD work.
The lunch was preceded by a photo-taking session where our graduates donned their graduation gowns and gathered with their supervisors for a commemorative photograph. In his congratulatory speech, Prof. Tenen lauded the efforts of our graduates, and urged them to achieve greater success in their future careers as research scientists. During the lunch, our graduates also shared their experiences at CSI and their future plans with the faculty.
We hereby wish our pioneer batch of CSI PhD graduates all the very best in their future endeavours!
