CSI PhD Student Nominated to Attend Global Young Scientists’ Summit

Congratulations to Hong Huiqi, a PhD student in Dr Polly Chen’s group for being successfully nominated to attend the Global Young Scientists’ Summit (GYSS) @one-north. She was one of the highly motivated and passionate PhD students and postdoctoral associates under 35 year old chosen from all over the world to participate in GYSS@one-north.

GYSS@one-north is a prestigious international summit organized by National Research Foundation where outstanding researchers from all over the world meet. Through the five day programme, Huiqi had the rare opportunity to attend talks by a panel of Nobel Laureates and interact with eminent international scientists. She was particularly inspired by the talk by Professor John Robin Warren on his work of Helicobacter.

Huiqi’s thoughts about attending the GYSS, “My experience at GYSS has reinforced my sense of purpose that first motivated me to embark on a scientific career.”

This year’s theme for GYSS 2016 was “Advancing Science, Creating Technologies for a Better World” which discussed the latest advances in science and technology and how it can be harnessed to address major global challenges.
