Dr Lee is recognised for uncovering an unexpected connection between cellular metabolism and RNA regulation. His research revealed that the metabolic enzyme ALAS1 can suppress RNA interference—a process that switches off gene activity. Inhibiting this enzyme could help RNA-based therapies silence disease-causing genes more effectively.
We warmly congratulate Dr. Lee on this outstanding achievement and are excited to welcome him to CSI Singapore in 2027 as Principal Investigator and NUS Presidential Young Professor!
